Slow Spokes Overnights

Who can go on an overnight?

Any trans, non-binary, gender-expansive, and women riders are welcome to register for our overnights! We give preference to those who live within Missoula County, as it’s our intention to build a community around bikepacking here — we want folks to get to know each other and hopefully make some bikepacking  buddies! You don’t need to have any experience or your own gear to join us on an overnight.

We host a Gear Library Night a few days before each overnight so folks can come by and get geared up.

The Lottery System

To be as equitable as possible, registration for our overnights is done through a lottery system. Preference is given to first-time bikepackers for beginner overnights. Lotteries open about 7 weeks before each overnight and participants are selected one week later.

What to Expect

Our ethos is simple: we’ll meet you where you are, make no assumptions about your experience/desires, practice consent, and we’ll help you however we can. Check out our Ride Support Guide to see some of the ways we’ll support you on the overnight.

Before the overnight, we’ll send you all the details you need to be prepared, including our recommended packing list, the route/itinerary, and specifics about resupply, weather, or food.

We meet up at a central location, have a ride safety talk, then ride as a group to camp with snack breaks along the way. Once we arrive at camp, we talk about bear safety, camp orientation, then set up tents and eat dinner! In the morning, we break down camp and ride back to town as a group.
